Meet Our Donkeys
All of our gorgeous donkeys have unique personalities and different strengths, here you can find out a little bit about us.
Polly
Sweet Polly, never far from her boyfriend Gerald they do everything together
Jimmy
Ladies and gentlemen, meet JIMMY – our bona fide SUPERSTAR! This boy has done it ALL! He's been all over the UK showing off his incredible talents. He was filmed in Harry Potter (yes, THE Harry Potter!) – though sadly his scene was cut by the producers. Don't worry, Alex has had stern words with them about this tragic decision! He's also danced ballet at the Royal Albert Hall, been the star of weddings and funerals, and struck poses at countless photoshoots. This donkey can turn his hoof to absolutely anything! Well... almost anything. There's ONE thing Jimmy absolutely will NOT do – go to the beach! Those places are terrifying in his opinion, and he'd much rather stay in the lorry having a good pout than get his precious hooves covered in sand. Even superstars have their limits! He's best friends with our lovely Tabitha, and together they make quite the handsome pair!
Zenna
A sweet girl who keeps herself to herself but does love some scratches
Gerald
A total BFG who just wants scratches, and is never far from his girlfriend Polly
Valentine
Valentine is our beautiful home-bred enigma! Some days she's the life and soul of the party – loving attention, mingling with the herd, being an all-around superstar. Other days? She prefers her own company on the other side of the field, looking slightly confused and wandering around like she's had one too many at the pub! We've had her checked out and the verdict is: she's just a donkey who marches to the beat of her own drum! She's incredibly sweet but loves to race around on walks like a thoroughbred – so hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
Tabitha
A.k.a. Tubby, amazing little working donkey who loves her food
Conan
Conan the barbarian, stocky little donkey known as being a pain, but we love him
Erica
Quiet hard working well behaved donkey. Sisters with Becky
Millie
Millie is Milo mum, she is the same size of Gerald if not slightly bigger in all ways..... She is very sweet and loves a cuddle.
Diamond
Diamond is our rescue queen bee and Ruby's inseparable partner-in-crime! This girl has CHARACTER and charm in spades. She and Ruby have been together for years, originally living at Miss Loxwood's sanctuary in Whitley. When Miss Loxwood sadly passed away, the RSPCA inherited the sanctuary but closed it down, sending donkeys to various homes. Diamond and Ruby bounced around Surrey together before finally landing at Dashing Donkeys – their forever home where they can live out their golden years in style!
Ruby
Ruby is Diamond's devoted bestie – the friend who's always there, like the world's sweetest shadow! You might think she's Diamond's servant, but really she's just the ultimate loyal companion. She's an absolute sweetheart who loves fuss and attention, as long as her best mate Diamond is right there with her. True friendship goals!
Becky
Meet Becky, our gorgeous home-bred girl and Erica's full sister! She's the definition of chill – easy-going, laid-back, and an absolute dream to walk. But don't let that fool you! When she heads out to events, this girl transforms into an excited superstar who can barely contain her enthusiasm. She's proof that even the coolest donkeys have their party mode!
Joseph
Meet Joseph, the Eeyore of Dashing Donkeys! This home-bred boy is our resident grumpy old man who's constantly telling everyone off and getting into little scraps. He's the donkey equivalent of "get off my lawn!" and prefers his own company most of the time. But we love him just the way he is – every herd needs a grump to keep things interesting!
Ebony
Meet Ebony, our resident drama queen and award-winning actress! She's absolutely brilliant at pretending to be pregnant – and we mean ALL the time. Phantom pregnancies are her specialty! She's a bit of a grumpy girly who likes things done on HER terms, thank you very much. Grooming? Maybe, if she's in the mood – but don't expect her to look thrilled about it! Walks? Only if she absolutely has to, and she'll yawn dramatically the entire way round just to make sure you know she's doing you a favor! The real entertainment comes from her relationship with poor Conan. When she's playing her pregnancy game, she lets him in all sweet and lovey-dovey, making him think he's the luckiest donkey alive. Then – BAM! – she drops him like a ton of bricks and tells him off for absolutely nothing! Poor Conan doesn't know if he's coming or going. She's a master of keeping us all on our toes!
Penny
Princess Penny, the sweetest little donkey, amazing racing and riding donkey
Pollyanna
The smallest of our donkeys, she's still an amazing riding donkey and totally cute
Duncan
Handsome and he knows it, a champion donkey who's rather cheeky
Jet
Jet is our home-bred diva and former show donkey extraordinaire! In her early years, she brought home trophies and rosettes galore with her stunning show qualities. But her career hit a little snag when she decided judges in long, flowy skirts with beautiful flowers were absolutely terrifying – how very dare they! A few years ago, she made her comeback in "The Larkins" where she stole the show as the main donkey in the final episode. She's absolutely stunning... until the farrier comes around. Let's just say those good looks disappear and she becomes a bit of a hoofed devil!
Milo
A donkey that came to us last year who doesn't like to be groomed but he does love to pick pocket and grab any kind of lace that you may have on you.
Merlin
A rescue donkey that came to us 4 years ago. A cheeky character that loves tugging on ladies dresses!
Gus
A younger Donkey that was also rescued from Ireland 6 years old full of character, He's one of my small donkeys with a big heart and likes to get himself into trouble with other donkeys
Genie
Genie is our precious Irish rescue boy who arrived timid and underweight. Trust didn't come easily to him – it took a full four years of patience and love for him to feel comfortable with us. He can still be a bit jumpy if you move too quickly, so gentle is the way with this sweet soul. He's best friends with Duncan, and if you hear the most hilarious squeaky bray that sounds like it desperately needs WD40 – that's our Genie! Once you hear it, you'll never forget it!
Otis!
Otis is our gorgeous Irish rescue who arrived fast asleep in the lorry – exhausted from his journey and his difficult past. He was heartbreakingly underweight and undernourished when Alex brought him home, and there were some scary moments when we weren't sure he'd make it. But with lots of love and care, he pulled through and now looks like a million dollars! These days, Otis has discovered his calling as Dashing Donkeys' resident ladies' man. He's always out there chasing the jennies – or as he thinks, they're all chasing HIM!
Olivia
Meet Olivia, another 5-year-old member of our mischievous Devil Gang! She’s meant to be a Spanish Miniature donkey — though over the years, she’s grown a little larger than expected!
Her best mate, Holly, is never far from her side. The pair are always up to some kind of mischief, whether it’s stealing things from Mum or digging holes in the fields. There’s never a dull moment with these two around — and they’re always the first to gallop off down the field when it’s time to move!

Small Holly
Yes — you name it, we’ve got devils! This cheeky girl is a rescue who came to us from a home that couldn’t quite meet her needs. She originally hails from the New Forest, where donkeys roam freely in the wild. Since joining Dashing Donkeys, she’s discovered that bum scratches are the best thing ever! She’ll spin around and proudly present her backside for the “scratch of the day” — and if you dare to stop, she’ll slowly back herself into you until you resume! She’s also a master mischief-maker. From sneaking sips of coffee and wandering off with the mug, to proving herself an expert escape artist, she keeps us on our toes. Be warned — this little devil is definitely not for the faint-hearted!
